MailNotifier Meter

The mail notifier meter monitors the number of unread emails in your inbox in the last n days. It uses an interface called MAPI to do so. This interface requires that you have a mail client running for it to work. Example mail clients that support MAPI include:

In fact I suspect that almost all windows mail clients support MAPI.

Why would you need a meter that tells you what you can find out from looking at your mail client? Because with SysStats you can see how many unread mails you have right in your dock without having to search through a bunch of windows and open your mail client window.

To configure you will need the following three items of information:

A profile name

This is an account name in Outlook Express.

A password

For the profile J

Valid days

The number of days past which an unread email is ignored, i.e. if you set this to 2 the mail notifier will only look at emails received in the last two days.

The mail notifier uses the selector as follows in the various GetValue()calls:

0

Retrieve the number of unread emails.

1

Return 0 if there are no unread emails, 1 if there are unread emails.
